A jury awarded a University of Maryland student’s family over four million dollars after finding a police officer was grossly negligent when he struck the student’s car.  The student’s mother was following just a few car links behind her son’s car when the fatal car wreck occurred.  Terribly, the auto accident was so severe that the car was destroyed and the student killed.  At the time, the police officer had been driving at twice the legal speed limit.  The police officer failed to stop at a stop sign.  Although the police officer’s lawyers argued that the student was at fault, the jury did not believe that the student was in any way negligent.
